New novels from bestselling author of The Book of You

Sarah Hodgson, deputy publishing director, crime and thriller, has acquired UK and Commonwealth (excluding Canada) rights in two more novels by Claire Kendal from Euan Thorneycroft at AM Heath.

Kendal’s debut novel, The Book of You, has been translated into over twenty languages, was a Richard & Judy Book Club pick in 2015 and a Sunday Times top ten bestseller.

Her follow-up, The Second Sister, will be published in May. Harper describes is as: 'the story of Ella, who will do whatever it takes to find her missing sister – even if it means spending time with the serial killer suspected of her disappearance.'

The first novel covered by the new deal, I Spy, 'tells the story of Laura, now living alone and friendless in a new city. As we learn more of Laura’s past, we begin to understand what might drive someone to disappear from their own life. And we also discover that Laura has not yet removed herself from danger...'

Kendal said: "I’m utterly delighted to be writing two new novels for HarperCollins. Sarah Hodgson is a truly inspiring editor. It is a huge privilege to work with her and the rest of the team."

Hodgson said: "I’m beyond thrilled to have a secured another two novels from Claire Kendal. She’s a hugely talented writer, and a joy to work with as an author."
