HarperCollins has pre-empted on two official companion books to Amazon's Grand Tour, presented by ex-Top Gear trio Clarkson, May and Hammond
The first book, The Grand Tour to the World, will appear this autumn with a second book to follow in 2018. Publishing director Jack Fogg bought World Rights All Languages from Jonny Geller at Curtis Brown.
According to the acquisition statement: 'Part travel companion, part factually dubious encyclopaedia, The Grand Tour to the World will be the go-to book for car fans and petrol heads alike. Publication will coincide with the second series of the hugely successful Amazon Original motoring show, which sees Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May travel the world, drive fast cars and do their very best to cause havoc.
'Featuring behind-the-scenes photos, travellers tips and car features aplenty, The Grand Tour to the World is a look at the people, places and cars of the planet, as seen through the eyes of the world’s favourite car fiends.'
The Grand Tour to the World will be published on 6th October 2017.
Kate Elton, executive publisher of fiction and non-fiction at HarperCollins, said: "The Grand Tour is simply one of the biggest and best content propositions out there - it’s funny, ground-breaking and innovative; a perfect example of must-watch destination viewing, with an incredibly loyal and engaged fanbase around the world. I’m so thrilled that the team have chosen HarperNonFiction as their publishing partner."
Jack Fogg says: "Who better that the likes of Clarkson, Hammond and May to expand our horizons and introduce us to the great cultural wealth the world has to offer. The book will be highly informative, beautifully presented, wildly offensive and bloody funny.”
