Pre-empt for 'wonderfully dark and twisty psychological thriller'; international deals

Araminta Hall, a Richard and Judy selection with Everything and Nothing (HarperCollins), is moving to Century with "a wonderfully dark and twisty psychological thriller", to be published in the US by Daphne Durham at MCD (Farrar, Straus). Selina Walker at Century pre-empted UK and Commonwealth rights in Our Kind of Cruelty through Lizzy Kremer at David Higham (DHA).

Walker said: "Told from the point of view of a very damaged, but outwardly successful man, Our Kind of Cruelty is a story of sexual obsession which begins as a love affair and ends in murder as the reader is asked to judge along with a jury who exactly is responsible for the tragedy that ensues." DHA has also sold Norwegian, Spanish and Lithuanian rights, with offers coming in from several other territories. Hall teaches creative writing at New Writing South in Brighton.
