Revamped loyalty card with credit scheme, offers and recommendations
Waterstones has relaunched the Waterstones loyalty card as Waterstones Plus. The new scheme combines the card with Stamp and Save, through which customers earn credit on purchases.
Waterstones launched its loyalty card in 2007, and has amassed more than 1 million members. It has long recognised that the card had greater potential than the chain was achieving.
Customers will earn half stamps for the first £5 they spend at Waterstones branches or online, and full stamps for every £10 spent. Ten stamps will earn them £10 credit, which they may redeem online or instore. The Waterstones app will operate as a Plus card, enabling customers to click and collect or redeem balances in branches. A student Plus card will give an additional 5% discount in Waterstones shops, cafes and online.
Waterstones has developed Waterstones Plus entirely in-house - "being very much a project of experienced booksellers". A key feature will be recommendations and offers to members, with benefits including exclusive editions, signed copies, and priority access to events.
James Daunt, Waterstones md, said: "The Plus Card rewards generously but I hope will be most appreciated by our customers for the insight and excitement of what we bring to their notice. Waterstones is a bookseller that thrives on the excellence of its booksellers and we very much look forward to developing the Plus Card to showcase this expertise."
