Launches with an evening with Malamander author Thomas Taylor on 30 May at Sea Life London

Walker Books has announced a partnership with Sea Life for special after-hours story time experiences around the UK, launching with an evening with Malamander author Thomas Taylor at its London centre on 30 May. The Deep Ocean Tales event will see Taylor reading and discussing his new seaside-set adventure story with the backdrop of the centre's sharks, including Black Tip Reef and Nurse Sharks.

Malamander has just been announced as Waterstones Children's Book of the Month. It has also already sold in 12 foreign territories after Walker purchased global rights for a six-figure sum, winning out against eight other publishers.

Rosi Crawley, senior publicity manager at Walker Books, said: "We're always looking for new and innovative ways to engage children in storytelling and reading, and teaming up with Sea Life was the perfect opportunity to do this. In particular, for Thomas Taylor's eccentric and thrilling Malamander story, the chance to see the story come to life in front of an actual shark tank will be an unmissable event!"

Graham McGrath, general manager at Sea Life London, said: "Sea Life London is an amazingly ideal location for this very special Deep Ocean Tales experience. We're thrilled to be working with Walker Books to create a place for guests to engage with exciting author-led activities and the enthralling tale of the Malamander. We're providing full after-hours access to the capital's aquarium for guests to explore and discover a huge array of incredible marine species and also to learn about our global conservation projects."
