As BookBrunch celebrates its 10th birthday, we recall stories from our first autumn

London Mayor Boris Johnson this morning opens Westfield London, the largest urban shopping centre in Europe and location of a new branch of independent bookseller Foyles. The shop stocks 35,000 titles over two floors, in 12,000 square feet of retail space.

In addition to its principal, Charing Cross Road store, Foyles has branches in the Southbank Centre, in Selfridges, and at St Pancras International.

The following month, Foyles announced that it was to leave Selfridges; it moved out of St Pancras in 2014, and closed the Westfield branch in 2015. But it has opened branches in Stratford and at Waterloo station in London, and in Bristol, Birmingham and Chelmsford.

Foyles was bought by Waterstones this September. Its new owner is to open a branch in Foyles' former Westfield site next month.
