Next Chapter Award to Samina Chaudhry

The Next Chapter Award, run by Scottish Book Trust and designed to help writers over 40 develop work to publication standard, has gone to Samina Chaudhry from East Renfrewshire. Chaudhry receives a £2,000 bursary, nine months of mentoring, and two weeks on retreat at creative writing centre Moniack Mhor.

Chaudhry was born in Manchester, but completed her education in Pakistan before moving back to Britain. Her novel-in-progress is called Half-Woman, and based on her experiences.

Previous winners of the award include Gail Honeyman, bestselling author of Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine.
