East London shop plans new opening after landlord decides to redevelop
The Newham Bookshop is seeking support for its plans to relocate its adult stock two doors down on the Barking Road, East London. The move follows the decision of the shop's landlord to develop into offices the upper floors, including one-third of the shop area, of the current branch.
A crowdfunder page aims to raise £25,000 to cover heating, lighting, power and fittings for the new branch. The shop will have a local history section dedicated to the late author Gilda O'Neill, as well as shelves bearing the names of supporters who donate £250 or more.
The shop has raised £3,000 so far thanks to a sale of signed copies donated by authors and publishers.
