Bookshop proprietor launches her first romcom, an international rights hit
"Natalie Cox" celebrated the launch of her novel Not Just for Christmas (Orion) at Ink@84 bookshop in Highbury. Natalie is in fact Betsy Tobin, novelist and bookshop proprietor, adopting a pseudonym for this departure into romcom. Not Just for Christmas is already a considerable success in the rights market, with sales to the US and to publishers in numerous European territories.
Tobin acknowledged that her 20-something daughter Cody gave her help and encouragement - which has paid off, to judge by a Goodreads review. "The author seems to be my age, which I'm happy to say, reflected in her writing," Brittany submits. "This was very refreshing! Nothing against my older authors, it was just way easier to relate to psychologically and behaviorally. I didn't feel like I was trying to put myself into a character's shoes with the mindset of a 40-year-old."
