Author-illustrator Caroline Magerl and Walker celebrated the launch of her picture book Maya & Cat at the Chris Beetles Gallery
Magerl was joined on Tuesday evening by reviewers, artists and friends who enjoyed viewing a selection of her work displayed. Making the trip from her home in Queensland, she will be visiting bookshops up and down the UK to meet booksellers and sign her book, which is published today. The book follows a little girl called Maya as she sets out to reunite a lost cat with its owner.
Magerl is a fine artist, printmaker and children's book illustrator, and is the author-illustrator of Hasel and Rose and Rose and the Wish Thing and the illustrator of Grandma's Shoes by Libby Hathorn, which won the Children's Book Council of Australia's Crichton Award for Illustration. Born in Germany, Caroline moved to Australia at the age of two, and grew up on a boat her father built in the backyard. She's now in Queensland living with her husband and teenage daughter.
