The Man Booker Prize for Fiction will take its place on London's Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square on 11 August, with free readings and a giveaway of titles from the 2009 long list.

Graham Fudger will take to the Fourth Plinth at 11am, having been chosen from among 2,400 people for the Mayor's One & Other project. He will read extracts from the Prize's 13 long-listed titles and will then give away one of each of the books to members of the public. This week, Fudger commented: 'The Man Booker Prize for Fiction is an important award, promoting a diverse range of voices from around the world. It gives me a great sense of pleasure to bring works from this year's selection of writers and storytellers onto the plinth.' The event can be followed on Twitter.
