Man Booker International contenders to be revealed next week

The list of contenders for the bi-annual Man Booker International Prize, sponsored by the Man Group, which recognises lifetime achievement in fiction, will be announced next week at the New York Public Library.
The judges - including authors Jane Smiley (Chair) from the US, Andrea Kurkov from the Ukraine, and academic Amit Chaudhuri from India, who were selected by the Advisory Committee of the Booker Prize Foundation - will name approximately 15 writers from around the world. The winner will be determined by the judges panel and announced in May 2009; the prize, worth $120,000, will be presented at an awards ceremony at Trinity College in Dublin.
