Moves from Cheltenham to become head of literature programming
Madeline Toy (right) has joined Bath Festivals as head of literature programming. She will look after the literature programme for the Bath Festival in May, and oversee the Bath Children's Literature Festival, programmed by artistic directors John and Gill McLay, in September/October. She succeeds Judith Robinson, who left the organisation last month.
Toy was previously at Cheltenham Festivals, most recently as senior programme and project manager. Before that, she was at Transworld. She will continue to be treasurer of the Publishers' Publicity Circle and will continue to undertake this role. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
She said: "I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Cheltenham Festivals. I loved working with the
team there and learned so much. I've admired the Bath Festival for a while now, especially
since they combined their music and literature festivals a couple of years ago which I
thought was a really interesting move, and I'm really excited to get going on the programme
Kate Abbey (left) has joined as literature producer. She previously worked for the festivals in a freelance programming and artist liaison role. She can be contacted at email@example.com.
Alex Clark, having completed her two-year tenure as artistic director, will return as guest curator for the 2019 festival.
