'The best opportunity for would-be writers'

Lucy Cavendish College in Cambridge, which runs a fiction prize sponsored by PFD, is to hold its first Fiction Prize Festival in January.

The day-long event on 19 January will feature talks, workshops and panel discussions, as well as book signings, networking drinks, and an optional dinner. Guest speakers include authors Sophie Hannah (right), Lesley Sanderson, Kelleigh Greenberg-Jephcott, Laura Marshall, Sara Collins, Jackie Ashley, and Allison Pearson. Nelle Andrew of PFD will run advice sessions.

Andrew said: "The Fiction Prize Festival is the best opportunity for would-be writers. If you want to be published but don't want to spend hundreds on courses and are looking for real insight, join us for a day that could change your life."

The Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize was set up in 2010. The 2018 winner was Deepa Anaparra, for Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line.
