Places for four BAME critics

The Ledbury Emerging Poetry Critics programme, designed to encourage diversity in poetry reviewing, is returning for a second year, and is open for applications. The deadline is 1 April.

The organisers say that increasing diversity in British poetry has not been reflected in the profile of reviewers. Thanks to Emerging Poetry Critics, run by Ledbury Poetry Festival with poets Sandeep Parmar (right) and Sarah Howe, eight critics have seen their work published in newspapers and journals including the Guardian, Telegraph, New Statesman, Times Literary Supplement, Poetry Review, Poetry Wales, and Poetry London.

There are four further places on the programme this year. Meanwhile, a similar programme based in Atlanta will pilot in the US.
