Faber introduces middle grade debut

Faber introduced its sole middle grade debut of 2019, library assistant and former parenting journalist Judith Eagle's The Secret Starling, at a lunch at Sketch in Mayfair. Bought from agent Tessa David, The Secret Starling was, reported editor Alice Broderick, "irresistible from the first line". Eagle said that her novel, which gives a modern spin to traditional storytelling, was influenced by books she had loved as a child such as The Secret Garden and Ballet Shoes.
