A daffodil and a poem for every guest
A good crowd braved the icy conditions to get to the Kew Bookshop for the launch of Joseph Coelho's A Year of Nature Poems, illustrated by Kelly Louise Judd and published by Wide Eyed Editions.
Coelho, winner of the CLiPPA Award for children's poetry in 2015, said: "For me A Year of Nature Poems is a love letter to nature and humanity's relationship with it. I wrote the poems wanting to highlight the deep connection that we have with nature and therefore the importance of protecting it. Whilst writing the book, I was struck by a very deep sense of nostalgia for the connection I felt with nature as a child. Thinking back to summer days spent playing outside, climbing trees and running about in the rain. I hope to have imparted some of that joy into the collection and to remind everyone that the free, deep pleasures of nature exist just beyond our front door."
Coehlo treated each of his guests to a potted daffodil and a copy of his poem for March.
