Indie publisher makes first appearance at Young Adult Literature Convention, held at London's Olympia

Ink Road, which published its first YA title, The Jungle by Pooja Puri in 2017, is appearing at YALC for the first time. The independent publisher publishes about four YA titles a year. Ink Road will have an exhibitor stand to showcase books and talk to readers, and its authors Akemi Dawn Bowman and Lauren Price will feature on panels alongside YA heavyweights such as Holly Bourne and Alice Oseman. Several other Ink Rooad authors, including international bestselling author Estelle Maskame, will also be present to sign books and meet readers at the stand.

Editorial manager Emma Hargrave said: "As a newcomer to the YA scene – the Ink Road list is eighteen months old and features eight bold, brilliant books – we’re beyond thrilled to be part of this year’s YALC alongside some serious YA talent. We’ve had a superbly exciting few months with Akemi Dawn Bowman’s debut Starfish going down a storm with readers, and Estelle Maskame’s international bestseller the DIMILY series was brought to an explosive conclusion with Just Don’t Mention It. We’ve also just launched another two exciting young voices with eighteen year-old Rachel Cotton’s enticing true-to-life romance, Nowhere Else But Here, and nineteen year-old Lauren Price’s A Bad Boy Stole My Bra – a cute tale of prank wars and unexpected love. We are so proud of our writers and know they will have a fabulous time at YALC with fans, readers and fellow authors."

Akemi Dawn Bowman, who is published by Simon & Schuster in the US said: "I’m so thrilled Ink Road will be going to YALC this year, as they have been such an incredible home for Starfish. Even though they’re a small publisher, they go above and beyond in every single way, and I’ve been so impressed by how much they’ve accomplished in the short time they’ve been around. Their entire team is brilliant, and I’m excited to be joining Ink Road at YALC this year!"

Ink Road is an imprint of Edinburgh-based independent publisher Black & White Publishing.

YALC is a Young Adult Literature Convention which takes place in association with London Film & Comic Con at Olympia this weekend. 2018 marks the fifth year since YALC’s inception.
