Lindsay McCrae worked on the Dynasties documentary about emperor penguins

Rupert Lancaster at Hodder has signed a memoir by Lindsay McCrae, a cameraman who worked on the acclaimed BBC Dynasties documentary about emperor penguins. The book is a record of the year that McCrae spent in the Antarctic, where he endured conditions including freezing winds in excess of 100kph. Hodder has world English rights in My Penguin Year: Living with the Emperors from Annabel Merullo at PFD, and will publish in November.

Lancaster said: "That penguins film was one of the best, most moving wildlife documentaries I've ever seen. I'm so pleased that we will now be publishing Lindsay's inspirational account - and it's very exciting to find that Lindsay can write as well as take amazing film and stills. This book is a joy."
