13th Hay in Mexico

The programme for Hay Festival Queretaro, the 13th Hay festival in Mexico, has been announced. The festival takes place from 6 to 9 September. It follows editions in Zacatecas, Xalapa and Mexico City.

Themes at the festival include global activism, US policy, innovations in STEM and gender equality. The 140 speakers include writers Andre Aciman, Lydia Davis, Vivian Gormick, Rosemary Sullivan, Jeanette Winterson, Agustin Fernandez Mallo, and Margo Glantz; Nobel laureates Shirin Ebadi and Venki Ramakrishnan; mathematician Marcus du Sautoy; singer-songwriter Patti Smith; Buddhist nun Kankyo Tannier; Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta; journalists Alma Guillermoprieto, Lydia Cacho and Andres Oppenheimer; and illustrators Peter Kuper and Liniers.
