Will be succeeded at Berlin-based house by Barbara Laugwitz

Gunnar Cynybulk, managing publisher at Ullstein Buchverlage, is to leave the company in summer 2019. He is to be succeeded by Barbara Laugwitz, who was appointed chief publishing officer at the beginning of March.

Cynybulk said: "I decided to resign as the publisher of Ullstein Buchverlage. I wish to thank all of our authors and colleagues for the exciting and successful cooperation. I also would like to thank Christian Schumacher-Gebler [CEO of Bonnier Media Deutschland] for our trustful collaboration and that he has agreed to my desire for change. I have always felt close to Ullstein and will continue to do so in the future."

Ullstein's international list includes many literary and commercial bestsellers.
