Winner receives £5,000 commission to illustrate Diana Wynne Jones novel
The Folio Society and House of Illustration have announced the longlist for their annual Book Illustration competition. There were more than 500 entries, from 47 countries.
The winner will receive a £5,000 commission from the Folio Society to illustrate its new edition of Diana Wynne Jones's Howl's Moving Castle. Five other shortlisted entrants will each receive £500.
The judges were Sheri Gee, art director at the Folio Society, and Colin McKenzie, director of House of Illustration. To decide the shortlist and winner, they will be joined by agent Laura Cecil, the Folio Society's Sophie Lewis, House of Illustrator curator Olivia Ahmad, and 2018 winner of the competition Max Loffler.
There is also a People's Choice award, with voting at http://bicpeopleschoice.org.
The awards will be announced at the House of illustration on 26 February.
