Editor leaves S&S to acquire commercial fiction at Quercus as a senior commissioning editor

Quercus Fiction has hired Emma Capron, editor at Simon & Schuster, as senior commissioning editor to acquire commercial fiction. Capron, who starts her new role on 25 February, joined Simon & Schuster in 2012 and has published authors such as Heidi Swain, Holly Hepburn and Catherine Bennetto, most recently acquiring Claire Frost’s debut novel Living My Best Li(f)e.

In her new role Capron will report to fiction publisher Cassie Browne, who said: "I am thrilled and delighted that Emma is joining the Quercus Fiction team. She has a brilliant eye for commercial fiction, fantastic experience of digital publishing and is beloved by her authors. I know that her editorial brilliance and commercial instincts will be of huge value to our team and I cannot wait to welcome Emma next month."

Capron said: "I have greatly enjoyed my seven years at Simon & Schuster, and the opportunity to work with – and learn from – some extremely talented colleagues. I will miss my brilliant authors and the team enormously, but when the offer of senior commissioning editor at Quercus came, it was too good an opportunity to turn down. I hugely admire Jon and Cassie’s vision for growth and their passion for publishing innovation. I’m looking forward to joining the Quercus fiction team at this exciting point in their journey, and to help shape and grow their impressive fiction list."
