Presentations from Candy Gourlay, Jenny Downham and others

Last week at the Frontline Club in Paddington David Fickling Books presented forthcoming titles and past successes including sales of 140,000 copies of Phoenix Books. Authors who spoke - all entertainingly and without notes - were Candy Gourlay (Bone Talk), Martin Brown (Lesser Spotted Animals 2), Dan Freedman (Unstoppable), Lisa Williamson (Paper Avalanche), Simon Mason (Hey, Sherlock), Jenny Downham (Furious Thing), Adam Stower (King Coo 2: The Curse of the Mummy's Gold), Lissa Evans (Small Change for Stuart - reissued), and Chris Wormell (The Magic Place).

Other highlights presented with enthusiasm included the late Mal Peet's acclaimed novella Mr Godley's Phantom, Philip Pullman's The Secret Commonwealth, Dave Shelton's Emily Lime Librarian Detective, Liz Flanagan's Dragon's Daughter, Jamie Smart's Flember: The Secret Book, and Fiona Shaw's Outwalkers.
