Bowl. Sleep. Repeat. is 'a book for fans, completely different from the traditional sports biographies'

Trevor Davies, publishing director at Octopus Publishing Group, acquired world English language rights from David Luxton of DLA on behalf of M&C Saatchi Merlin. The book is written with Felix White, musician, cricket enthusiast and Anderson's co-host on BBC Five Live's popular podcast Tailenders

Davies said: "We’re terrifically excited to be working with Jimmy. Not only is he a hero to every cricket fan, he has played for England for 16 years and can bring a unique insight into life as an elite sportsman. From the outset he was determined to write a book for fans, which was completely different from the traditional sports biographies in being a candid, witty and entertaining look at life as an England Test cricketer. Publishing in 2019, ahead of The Cricket World Cup and The Ashes this Summer, he’s the perfect spokesperson for the ‘Year of Cricket’."

According to the acquisition statement: 'Jimmy is the greatest ever pace bowler, having surpassed Glen McGrath’s record for Test wickets in 2018. He is third in the list of all-time Test wicket takers. He’s bagged over 570 Test wickets and over 850 international wickets in total. He’s also taken cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar’s wicket more times than any other bowler.

'Not bad for a Burnley lad who – as the book reveals – only ever aspired to have a Peugeot with his name on it.

'Bowl. Sleep. Repeat. will be published in June 2019 at £20 in hardback and is a fascinating, entertaining and personal insight into what life’s like as a Test cricketer from an England Legend. Through stories from his 16-year England career, Jimmy invites us all into his world of cricket, providing a never-before-seen look at life on and off the pitch.

'From touring, practice sessions, sleep, famous confrontations, bizarre rituals and life beyond the boundary rope, this goes far beyond a traditional sports autobiography.'

Anderson said: "I’m really excited about the release of my book, Bowl. Sleep. Repeat. I had a great time writing it with Felix and I can’t wait for people to read these stories for the first time ever!"
