Starry programme to mark publisher's 90th year
Man Booker winner Anna Burns, Nobel winner Kazuo Ishiguro, and Academy Award-winner Kevin Macdonald will be among the stars of the Faber Members spring programme, taking place in the publisher's 90th anniversary year.
Burns will be in conversation with Faber editorial director Louisa Joyner, and will read from the prize-winning Millkman. Ishiguro will launch the Faber Members film club by introducing Jim Jarmusch's Night on Earth. Macdonald will introduce the second film in the series, and Rebecca Lenkiewicz, co-writer for the Oscar-winning film Ida and for Disobedience and Colette, will introduce the third. A further event will feature playwrights Tom Stoppard and Patrick Marber in conversation.
Also on the programme will be John Lanchester, Sarah Hall, and Daljit Nagra. There will be behind-the-scenes looks at Faber with creative director Donna Payne, publisher Alex Bowler, and Toby Faber, author of a new history of the house.
The Faber Members programme - managed by Hayley Sothinathan, Katie Hall and Rachel Alexander - has a new look. Alexander, Faber communications director, said: "We are thrilled to begin our 90th year with a bold new design for Faber Members and a programme that we hope reflects all strands of our publishing and gives readers an opportunity to participate in the celebrations. This will be the first in a series of announcements regarding special events and partnerships."
