Balham Literary Festival announces 2019 line-up

Headliners include Max Porter, Mick Herron, AC Grayling and Rachel Ama; festival runs 13-25 June

The Balham Literary Festival, which is part of the MILD group's Live Lit series, returns 13-25 June with a line-up featuring vegan cooking star Rachel Ama, novelist Max Porter (pictured), crime writer Mick Herron and philosopher AC Grayling.

Highlights of the festival include an event with Grayling who will preview his new book The History of Philosophy, delving into some of the greatest minds in the world from antiquity to present; former Crystal Palace resident Max Porter will discuss his new work Lanny, the follow-up to Grief is the Thing with Feathers; and YouTube chef Rachel Ama will share quick and easy recipes from her new book Vegan Eats.

The Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Adam Weymouth will discuss his book Kings of the Yukon and reflect on environmental issues; bestselling author Christie Watson will be in discussion with spoken word artist Molly Case to reflect on the nursing profession; whilst Lewisham-born MP Rachel Reeves will mark the achievements of women in parliament in conversation with broadcaster Cathy Newman.
