Is also artistic director for words and literature at Bath

Alex Clark is to be the guest director for the 2019 Cambridge Literary Festival, which takes place next April. She was guest programmer at the festival in 2014.

Clark is a writer and reviewer, and for the past two years was artistic director for words and literature at the Bath Festival. At Cambridge, she will work alongside festival founder Cathy Moore, while Sabine Edwards of Pendleton Events will run the children's programme. She said: "I first came to Cambridge many years ago, as a festival chair, and have had some extremely happy and memorable experiences at the festival over the years. I'm in awe of Cathy's dedication and tenacity in maintaining and expanding a festival of literature, politics and ideas of exceptional calibre, and I thoroughly look forward to programming next spring's events."

Moore said: "I am excited and energised at the prospect of working even more closely with Alex and Sabine and am keen to see their professionalism and flair come to life in Cambridge next year. My time will be put to good use pursuing development opportunities opened up by running a portfolio of three festivals." Moore also runs a litfest each winter, and set up the Wimpole History Festival in association with the National Trust.
