Miranda Jewess arrives in February from Titan Books

Serpent’s Tail has announced the appointment of a new editor to run the Serpent’s Tail crime list. Miranda Jewess, formerly acquisitions and managing editor at Titan Books, joins as senior commissioning editor for Serpent’s Tail Crime, on 4 February. She will be commissioning titles across the crime, thriller, and suspense genres and can be contacted on miranda.jewess@profilebooks.com

Hannah Westland, Serpent’s Tail publisher, said: "As soon as we met Miranda, we knew she was a rare talent. She is a true crime-fiction aficionado, and is super-smart, full of original ideas, and knows the market inside out. Serpent’s Tail has a long and proud history of publishing ground-breaking crime fiction. Miranda is the perfect person to revive that tradition and take it to new heights. We can’t wait for her to join our team."

Jewess said: "This is an incredible role, and I’m very grateful to everyone at Serpent’s Tail for giving me the opportunity to expand their crime list and find new and diverse voices in the genre. I’ve admired Serpent’s Tail as a publisher for many years, and I’m so excited to be joining such an impressive team. It will be bittersweet to leave my brilliant colleagues at Titan Books, not to mention so many talented authors, but I know they will continue to do amazing work."
