Luke Shaller leaves HarperCollins to take newly created position of chief finance officer at S&S

Simon & Schuster UK has announced that Luke Shaller will be joining as chief finance officer, UK & International, in early summer. With overall responsibility for finance and operations, he will, according to a statement from S&S, 'also fulfil a crucial role in liaising with the global businesses in the United States, Australia and India.' He will join the UK board.

Chapman said: "This is a very exciting appointment. Luke brings with him great experience, insight, intelligence as well as a huge passion for books. This new role allows us to continue our focus on profitability and, working with our colleagues in the US, Australia and India, to deliver sustained long-term growth."

Shaller said: "I am thrilled to be joining Simon & Schuster UK and can't wait to meet the team and get to work. After almost ten happy years with HarperCollins I am looking forward to this exciting opportunity to work with Ian and the team to help realise Simon & Schuster's full potential."

He has spent a decade at HarperCollins and is currently the financial controller responsible for managing the Group Finance and Sales Analytics functions.
