This Is Spoke offers 'a huge opportunity to reach a core - and extremely influential - audience'
Penguin Random House (PRH) UK has teamed up with Fremantle and BMG to launch This Is Spoke, a podcast series "for Generation Z".
Starting yesterday (9 October), the 12-part series discusses youth culture through the lenses of books and music. The hosts are Chidera Eggerue (THE SLUMFLOWER) and YouTuber and poet Suli Breaks, and guests include writers and poets Emma Dabiri, Caleb Femi and Yomi Sode, musicians Maverick Sabre, Nadia Rose and Caitlyn Scarlett, and actors and presenters Femi Oyeniran, Amelia Dimoldenberg and Yinka Bokinni.
This Is Spoke will host a live event at Unit 8 Copeland Park in Peckham on Saturday 17 November.
The podcast has arisen from an internal initiative championing innovation and collaboration between colleagues across the partners' parent company Bertelsmann.
Hannah Telfer, md of audiences and audio at PRH, said: "With the growth in the podcast industry continuing apace, there is a huge opportunity to use this incredibly popular medium to reach a core - and extremely influential - audience. This collaboration has enabled us to go beyond the boundaries of what we would each be able to achieve independently: bringing together voices, expertise and ideas from across our creative spectrum to create what we hope will be a topical and thought-provoking platform for our authors and audiences alike."
