Caryl Phillips, Seno Gumira Ajidarma and Holly Bourne are to headline the Author of the Day
programme at the London Book Fair (12-14 March).

Phillips, Author of the Day on Tuesday 12, is the author of fiction and non-fiction including Crossing the River, A Distant Shore and Dancing in the Dark. He was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1993, and has won the James Tait Black prize and two Commonwealth Writers prizes.

Indonesian author Seno Gumira Ajidarma will be Market Focus Author of the Day on Wednesday 12. Ajidarma has crossed genre boundaries, writing non-fiction, short stories, essays, poetry and a cartoon novel; and he is also a journalist, photographer, lecturer, and film critic. He is a leading advocate of free speech.

Holly Bourne is Children's Author of the Day on Thursday 13. She is the author of the bestselling Spinster Club series, as well as of the adult novel How Do You Like Me Now? She is a champion for the mental health charity SANE.

Three prominent European authors are special guests at the fair on 12 March. They are German crime writer Simone Buchholz (Beton Rouge, Orenda, February); Belgian author Stefan Hertmans (The Convert, Harvill Secker, June); and French novelist Antoine Laurain (Vintage 1954, Gallic, June), whose The President's Hat was a Waterstones Book Club and Indies Introduce choice.

Jacks Thomas, LBF director, said: "[These authors'] work reminds us of the timelessness of great literature - from inspirational storytelling to stimulating non-fiction that transcends cultural, social and geographical boundaries.

"As we look ahead to the London Book Fair in March, it's inevitable that our minds must also turn to the month's impending Brexit deadline and what this will mean for us both economically and culturally as a global industry; we extend a warm welcome to those whose work demonstrates the best of the best that the publishing world offers today."
