Messenger users will be able to have a 'one-of-a-kind literary experience' for The Chef, which will be out as a traditional novel in the spring
James Patterson launched The Chef in the UK yesterday via Facebook. Produced by Patterson, together with Facebook's Creative Shop and 1stAveMachine, the adapted novel is 'a one-of-a-kind literary experience designed for a mobile and social audience.'
Facebook Messenger users will have the opportunity 'to dive deeper into the storyline and engage with characters, via exciting interactive audio and visuals, in a way that has never been done before.' The Chef launched in the US on 30 October, and in the UK, Europe, and other territories yesterday.
The content reads like a chat conversation, populating as the reader scrolls down. At key moments, the narrative will switch to a video, image, or audio recording.
Patterson said: "I've really enjoyed thinking through the possibilities for the future of storytelling... and I can't wait to share it with you." The Chef will also be published as a traditional novel, in hb, by Cornerstone (Penguin Random House) in February 2019.
