'Queen of Gangland Crime' has sold over 3m copies

HarperFiction has signed bestselling author Kimberley Chambers for another three books, in a "significant" six-figure deal. Kimberley Young, publisher of commercial women's fiction at HarperFiction, bought world English rights from Tim Bates at Peters, Fraser and Dunlop.

The "Queen of Gangland Crime" has sold over three million copies of her books. Life of Crime - her 13th novel - has sold over 100,000 units across all formats, and was her first number 1 in paperback. The Sting, her most recent, went straight into the hardback bestseller list at number two.

Young said: "Kimberley Chambers is one in a million - our first hardback together hit number one and I love working with her. Kim writes what she knows with incredible passion and authenticity, and this makes her gritty, gripping thrillers the very best in class. The strength of the in-house passion here at HarperFiction is testament to her talent - she truly is one of the family - and we've enjoyed an amazing journey so far to achieve a hat-trick of number ones. From profile-raising appearances on Graham Norton's Radio 2 show and BBC Breakfast in the last year, to the launch of a new writing bursary - the KC Kickstart Prize - Kim's brand is going from strength to strength, and I can't wait for even more readers to discover her stories."

Chambers said: "I'm totally thrilled to have agreed a new deal with HarperFiction. Kim Young and the team at HarperFiction are amazing to work with and I couldn’t imagine working with anybody else."

Bates said: "Over the last seven years HarperFiction have brilliantly masterminded and grown Kimberley's career, delivering three number one Sunday Times hardback bestsellers. I couldn't be more pleased that we have agreed a new deal."
