British Library event in November

Carcanet is to launch a new Carcanet Classics list with an event at the British Library on 26 November.

The first list includes Gilgamesh Retold, a new translation by Jenny Lewis; Edmund Blunden's Selected Poems, edited by Robyn Marsack; Pearl, translated by Jane Draycott and with an introduction by Bernard O'Donoghue; Beowulf, translated by Chris McCully; and Swimming Chenango Lake by Charles Tomlinson, edited by David Morely.

The British Library event will feature readings from Carcanet's founder and editorial director Michael Schmidt; John Clegg (Selected Poems by John Heath-Stubbs); Jane Draycott; Philip Terry (Dictator - another Gilgamesh translation), and Robyn Marsack.

Carcanet will add eight to 10 titles to the series each year.
