Dozens of events this Saturday, 6 October


June Sarpong (right), Sarah Perry, Anton du Beke, Max Porter, Chris Wormell, Charly Cox, Emma Glass, and Gill Sims will be among the authors taking part in Bookshop Day this coming Saturday, 6 October. Bookshop Day is co-ordinated by the Booksellers Association as part of the Books Are My Bag campaign. It takes place two days after "Super Thursday" - the most significant day of new releases of the year.

LONDON
Why we should all be feminists, with June Sarpong, Charly Cox and Emma Glass
Waterstones Gower Street, 2pm, £6

The Wellcome Shop at the Wellcome Collection Book Surgery 11-5pm

Chris Wormell at Pickled Pepper Books, Crouch End 3pm, £5. Pickled Pepper Books will also be letting local children run the shop

Burley Fisher Books, Haggerston, is hosting a Saturday Salon featuring Elaine Castillo, Sophie Mackintosh and Emma Glass. 6pm, £5

Moon Lane Books, Forest Hill, is creating a pick-list voted for by children at its local school, and will invite local children to run the shop

Dulwich Books will invite local children run the shop

The Alligator's Mouth children's bookshop in Richmond will host author Jo Simmons and illustrator Sheena Dempsey. 3pm, £5

Houseman's, King's Cross, is hosting an evening of powerhouse, passionate, angry and hopeful class-struggle poetry from Laura Taylor and Janine Booth. 7pm, donation

Waterstones Crouch End will host an event with author Brooke Barker. 3:30pm

Max Porter will go behind the till at Mr's B's Emporium in Bath to sell his favourite books

Five Leaves Bookshop in Nottingham will host the launch of the All-Night Bookshop by David Belbin. 8.30pm

Bookshop Day quiz at Waterstones Lancaster Corn Market. 3pm

Imagined Things Bookshop, Harrogate, is hosting an event with illustrator Emily Sutton. 11:30am

Drake the Bookshop in Stockton-on-Tees is hosting a "Cream Tea with a French Twist" with Alicia Drake (4pm); and an evening with Laura Barnett and Kathryn Williams, with music. 7pm, £10

Creative writing club at Chicken and Frog Bookshop, Brentwood. 4pm, £5

Helen Browning at Hungerford Bookshop, and a party to mark Tessa's 40th anniversary in bookselling

Cheltenham - the annual Lit Crawl at Cheltenham Literature Festival

The Book Case, Hebden Bridge, will invite local children to run the shop

Children's Bookshop Huddersfield will invite local children to run the shop

Booka Bookshop, Shropshire, will celebrate its ninth birthday.

Gill Sims at Far From the Madding Crowd in Linlithgow. 3pm

Golden Hare Books, Edinburgh: launch of Square Eyes, the new graphic novel by Anna Mill and Luke Jones. 8pm

The Edinburgh Bookshop will invite local children to run the shop

WALES
Bookish, Crickhowell, is running the Crickhowell Literary Festival with author events including Amanda Jennings and Laura Kemp in conversation (5pm, £7), as well as MR Hall, Joanna Cannon, Roy Noble, Stuart Turton and Sophie Hannah

FURTHER HIGHLIGHTS
Charly Cox and Jen Campbell will each release a new poem dedicated to bookshops

Sir Peter Blake has designed this year's Limited Edition Books Are My Bag bag, which will be available exclusively in bookshops from Bookshop Day

A Limited Edition Children's Bag, inspired by Philip Pullman's The Book of Dust trilogy, will also be available, with a design based on Chris Wormell's illustrations

HarperCollins will release an exclusive BAMB book of seven of Cecelia Ahern's short stories, taken from her new collection Roar, and available to be given away to bookshop customers

The Read Like A Writer podcast will release a Bookshop Day episode, featuring Shaun Bythell (Diary of a Bookseller).
